AURELIUS
SOFTWARE EXPANSION
Project Overview
Aurelius, a platform for User Experience Designers to collect, store and organize research data, has recently decided to expand their offerings.
In addition to their current services, they would also like to offer users the opportunity to present and share information related to a project, with those not working within Aurelius.
To assist Aurelius with determining a way to move forward, I reviewed the platform and provided them with annotated wireframes showcasing how they could achieve their goals.
Methods: Competitive Audit, Stakeholder Interview, Rapid Prototyping, Kano Analysis
Tools: Keynote, Google Docs, Sketch
Deliverables: Annotated Wireframes & Axure Prototype
Review: learning the what, how, and why
To begin the project, it was important to understand what existed within the space that Aurelius works. What were similar platforms doing? Had any of the platforms that researchers might use allowed users to easily customize and share data, and if so, how were they doing it? After finding similar websites I and a team of other designers compiled our findings.
Following the competitive audit, the design team sat down with the owner of Aurelius to get more insight into how the platform works, and what changes he was anticipating.
Prototyping: consensus by developer
Drawing on what was learned from the competitive audit and interview with the Aurelius C.E.O, I began to sketch out some ways to make it easier for User Experience researches to organize and share information on the platform.
Each designer on our team developed 4-5 sketches, the Aurelius developer then came in to review the sketches to provide feedback on the feasibility and time needed to develop the sketched functions.
User Feedback: Kano Analysis and Journey Mapping
To have more insight from a user’s perspective, I created a journey map and worked with a team of designers to perform a Kano Analysis utilizing our sketches and descriptions of the new potential features. The Kano Analysis was sent out to current Aurelius users.
Annotated Wireframes
Utilizing insight from the Kano Analysis, developer feedback, journey mapping, audit, and C.E.O interview, I developed annotated wireframes.
I wireframed 4 new features to demonstrate ways in which Aurelius could make sharing and organizing research information easier for designers.
